According to HijackThis, my laptop was infected with reams of spyware/adware. On closer inspection, I found that the spyware was actually my very own plug-ins and add-ons for windows that I myself personall installed. Running HijackThis is a sure fire way to cause mayham on your pc. I mean, why mix the search results with files that must not be deleted? HijackThis has no place in a world that is rules by superior applications such as Adaware. I recommend skipping HijackThis.
