Clear Read-Only is a simple freeware application that lets users clear out the read-only portion of subfolders and files. The application performs well enough, offering thorough scan and clear functionality and comes complete with a simple, comfortable interface that is not much to look at, but makes operation a breeze. The only real issue here is with regards to the actual usefulness of Clear Read-Only. While removing the read-only sections of folders and files makes them smaller and thus easier to manage when copying and editing, it has no real practical appeal for the masses, meaning that most users will probably be left scratching their heads, wondering what on earth the point of such a tool is. To put it another way, if you are in search for a program specifically to remove read-only files quickly and conveniently, then Clear Read-Only is a safe bet. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a file managing and editing utility with a wide, general appeal then unfortunately this one is going to be rather disappointing.
