Review by FileBEAST's J.W.B:
There won't be many people who haven't heard of Skype, the phenomenally popular VOIP application that allows users to communicate with one another for free via their internet connections. The utility works in much the same way as any other peer to peer programme, except instead of sharing files, users are able to talk directly to each other on-line. The initial setup is easy thanks to the helpful wizard, and Skype turns out to be surprisingly light on PC resource requirements. Provided both parties have broadband connections, conversations are generally lag-free and the audio quality is top notch. Skype features a built-in search engine that allow users to locate one another, but this function tends to be quite buggy, and can make finding contacts an unnecessarily tedious process. This flaw is only minor, however, and doesn't detract from SkypeÂ’s impressive functionality as a VOIP application.
