Flask MPEG is an open source application, allowing you to convert MPEG video files to other digital file formats. This comes in very handy if you have limited hard drive space and you wish to convert large movie files to a compressed, advanced format that most media players can recognize, such as .divX. Flask MPEG has full MPEG1/MPEG2 video decoding, VCD/SVCD/DVD video trans-coding and A52/MPEG audio decoding, so hardcore video editing buffs will no doubt feel right at home. Flask MPEG can be a little intimidating and rather complicated to use, and beginners may well struggle with the programme at first. The developers could have included a more user friendly interface design and a more comprehensive help feature to make life a little easier, but the lack of these doesnÂ’t detract from the overall functionality of the utility, which remains very impressive on all fronts.
