By default, Windows displays the current time in the system tray, but not the date. This can be easily corrected with DateInTray, a simple, free tool that does just that – inserts the date in the system tray. While it is by no means groundbreaking, this does come in rather handy, especially if you constantly need reminding of what the current date is. DateInTray displays the day of the month in the system tray at all times, and if you want the full date, then hovering the mouse cursor over the date is all that’s required. Furthermore, a neat little calendar is accessible by simply clicking on the date. While DateInTray is not an essential tool, it does come in rather useful and certainly offers an improvement over the standard Windows date and calendar functions. Small, simple, and free, there really is no reason not to give DateInTray a try.

DateInTray is a small freeware utility that displays the date in the Windows tray. The day of the month is displayed in the DateInTray icon, and the entire date can be seen in a tooltip popup by holding the mouse cursor over the icon. A useful popup calendar can be brought up by clicking on the DateInTray icon. This easily accessable calendar popup is very useful when you need to quickly reference a calendar. The calendar popup automatically shows the current date, and include arrow buttons to easily view next and previous months. DateInTray can be easily added to the Startup folder in the programs menu so that it automatically starts every time you log in.
