PrintCtl is a small console utility that is used for the effective monitoring and management of printers on a Windows NT network. Intended for network managers, PrintCtl allows for all printers to be effectively controlled, and each individual printerÂ’s availability can be specified. For example, the network manager may choose to make certain printers unavailable during holiday or weekend periods. PrintCtrl is operated via a command line interface, meaning that it is not instantly accessible to entry level users, but, seeing as the tool is aimed at network managers and administrators, this isnÂ’t a problem. PrintCtrl can also be used to gain access to current printersÂ’ statuses and to stop, start and pause print processes as well as designating default printers for network use. When it comes to managing printers in a network environment, PrintCtl does a fine job and being both small and free, it is definitely a valuable tool for network managers.
