Rather than offer a range of different audio features, the developers of CDex chose instead to focus the utility on performing one specific task, and while choosing such a narrow focus for an application could potentially lead to its downfall, Cdex manages to perform its intended task well enough to justify the download. The task in question is that of extracting digital music files from a CD, and a simplified, streamlined interface lends itself perfectly to fast, efficient operation. Aside from the main function of extracting audio files, CDex also allows for the conversion of these files into one of 12 supported formats, including AAC, WMA and OGG. Of course, the inclusion of some extra features would have further boosted the attraction of this application, but their absence doesnÂ’t take away from what is essentially a top class audio file extracting program.
