Sunday Panzers caught me by complete surprise. I was expecting another average arcade shooter, but instead I was treated to one of the best freeware games I have played in a long time. Game play is smooth and controlling your squad of up to 12 tanks is dead simple, while the experience is enhanced by the quirky, cartoon-style graphics. Sunday Panzers is not an easy game however, the enemy artificial intelligence is exceptional and some strategy is required if you are to complete all of the 50 levels on offer. With 6 different worlds to battle your way across, including a moon landscape, the action in Sunday Panzers is absorbing and varied enough to keep even the most jaded gamers interested to the end. As a nice touch, upon completion of the game players are awarded a "super squad" of tanks capable of extreme destruction. Sunday Panzers turns of to be a breath of fresh air in an already over-populated genre, and a game well worth anyone's time. Exceptional.
